“Negotiating for Dummies”

Today I finished reading the book “Negotiating for Dummies”. I was expecting a little bit more from this book, but it is totally acceptable when it is your first acquaintance with the negotiation technique. I like, from time to time, to read this kind of books, because it gives me new ideas and explanations about the cause of past events. I like to ponder over the moments of my life when I was involved in negotiations. It can be a person issue or just a business deal, but I still remember them, but only the ones I won or lost. These moments always revive in my mind when I read such books, because I try to understand why I did win or did lose the case. The obscure and uncomfortable feeling of a lost deal is given a reasonable and logical explanation.


The six tips for your preparation before a negotiation from the book:

 Plan your questions in advance.

 Ask with a purpose.

 Tailor your question to your listener.

 Follow general questions with more specific ones.

 Keep questions short and clear – cover only one subject.

 Make transitions between their answer and your questions.

 Don’t interrupt; let the other person answer the question!

Run into bad luck

Do you think that “funny” situations like a slipping on a banana peel or dropping the full pot of dinner just 5 min before guests’ arrival happen only in movies? Wrong! It can happen with everyone and at most unpredictable time.
Yesterday, I was cleaning my apartment and was in hurry. I was rushing here and there with a vacuum cleaner and counting minutes before my ride to airport and exactly at the most unfortunate time I managed to cross a bottle of red wine. O, my Goodness!

I had tears in my eyes when I was trying to clean up all the mess. It took 40 min to clean the surface and 5 pails of water.

I not need to mention about the frustration and aggravation over the lost of a bottle of good wine.

My vain attempt to save the destroyed documents. The remains of what once was wonderful wine.

There is something Scandinavian in her creations, from the Viking’s time.

I like these dolls. If look nearer at their faces they look so natural. It must be a lot of meticulous and scrupulous job behind each doll. I admire the designer’s patience. Her each character is a one of a kind creation. Figures are hand sculpted individually from a polymer clay. The costumes are then designed and sewn.

The artist has many awards for her representation of nature. April tries to create a window into nature and bring an attention by her colorful work.
Something is eye-catching in her work. I perceive the artist's work as an image of a mixture photo and cartoon drawings.

And yet, these tropical paintings do look unnatural and abnormal in my observation  of nature. It would call it for surrealism. Maybe it was the point, to create “not natural” paintings of nature. Beatty is in the eye of the holder.
