Yoga and Nature

Sky walking and wild life in Costa Rica.

A sky walk is an amazing adventure. Typically, Sky walks are located in different rain forests and the most biodiverse regions of Costa Rica.

Our tour started in Villa Lapas Reserve, a 400 acre private reserve, we hiked along a 2.5 mile trail which included a series of five suspended bridges. At a height of 70 feet about the forest floor these bridges offer a perfect view of the canopy’s flora and fauna, while providing the added benefit of least disturbance to the creatures of the forest.

I love these sky bridges!!

After the lunch our adventure continued on a boat along the Tárcoles river which winds through Costa Rica's Central Pacific region before emptying into the Pacific Ocean.

A local stork is on its hunting

Not hungry any more, a big catch

Its watershed provides a crucial habitat for a number of species (the most notable of which is the American crocodile), and although the river is somewhat polluted, it is significant for the country's residents, as nearly 60% of Costa Rica's total population lives along its basins.

The local attraction and the brave tour guide

Crocs are everywhere

The Tarcoles river is also famous for its abundance of American crocodiles. It's said that the Tárcoles River has one of the highest populations of crocodiles in the entire world - 25 crocodiles per square kilometer. Several tour operators take advantage of this fact by offering river tours that guarantee croc sightings.
The beautiful mangroves

Among the lush pacific coast mangroves we saw such wonders as scarlet macaws, howler monkeys and several other species of tropical birds the names of which I couldn’t remember.

This tour is a wonderful way to experience a variety of Costa Rica’s nature and wildlife as well as the beauty of the country side.

I got a job!!!

Hurrah!! Hurrah!! Hurrah!!

I got a real job. A job in my field of expertise and I am crazy about it.

I love the company, I love the products and I will do my best.

I was missing my job during my unemployment months. I even bought a pricey book to bring up my memories about the intriguing subject of my main interest.

I love you all, my dear readers and you have to forgive me in a case of my silence. I shall try to update my blog as often as my free time allows me.

Champagne to all, but me! I am still in my detoxing diet (after yoga retreat) period.

“Pura Vida” resort in Costa Rica

Our arrival to the resort, notice how thoughtful was packed our luggage.
“Pura Vida” Retreat and Spa is considered by some as the Wellness & Yoga destination of choice outside the United States. It offers you a perfect balance of mind, body and spirit in an oasis of beauty and tranquility. “Pura Vida” is wonderful for a group yoga retreat. The food is amazing and everything is organic; and the people are friendly. I highly recommend going there if you don’t mind living in less comfortable rooms. We paid for a Deluxe room (the website pictures are deceiving), which is difficult to call deluxe, I thought it was a joke. When I made peace in my mind with the poor condition of the room, it felt really wonderful. The nature, the view and the fresh air made up for all the accommodation inconvenience.

The resort area

The amazing sunrise.

The resort offers you a wide variety of different treatments which are not cheap, even for an American valet.
I did two controversial treatments: “BodyTalk” and “Om Chu”.

BodyTalk is a revolutionary healthcare system that utilizes state-of-the-art energy medicine to optimize the body’s internal communications. Overall health is informed by the quality of communication within the body. BodyTalk’s main emphasis is on opening communication with the Innate Wisdom that is addressing and engaging the inner intelligence that is always prepared to activate the healing forces of the body.

In two words, during the session, your body is going to be reprogrammed on detoxing and self healing. You have to trust this technique, and you have to embrace the feeling that grips your mind. According to Kattya, performer of the treatment, my body is going to be detoxing for five weeks. And after that I shall be taken to the next level. It might sound as “Mambo-Jambo”, but it is up to you; the power of believe is mighty. On top of it, I am restrained from all wine for the coming five weeks. I didn’t have it during the whole retreat; as good as I can skip it for five weeks more.

The treatment area

The second, an amazing experience, is an “Om Chu” massage. I can’t even call it a massage, because it is a combination of three different techniques: Korean Hand Therapy which is an ancient practice traditionally taught to blind people only, Tibetan healing technique and Japanese muscular therapy. Olman, very gifted and intuitive blind therapist, incorporated all these in his own unique style and called it “Om Chu.” If you ever go to “Pura Vida” or just to Costa Rica you MUST visit him. He is sensational; and if you are connected he tells things about you.

Seven days of transformation

I spent a week in Costa Rica; I spent seven days in Yoga Retreat at Pura Vida resort; seven amazing days in my life. At the beginning I wasn’t sure if I able exercises twice in a day, each yoga session is one and half hour, and in between I participated in various hiking activities. It turned out easier than I thought. My body hurts, my muscles are sore, despite this I feel wonderful.

Yoga in class; our teacher, Lisa, she is just wonderful.

I’ve done things that this week which I normally don’t do. I spent a week without TV, I ate organic food only, I didn’t drink any alcohol, I meditated every morning, I had yoga twice in a day, I practiced forgiveness and non violence thoughts (easy, I am not a violent person), no judgment (more difficult, I can be prejudiced)and tried to find happiness inside myself.
Every morning at seven o’clock we practiced meditation.

I think it is challenging to maintain all these wonderful things being back at home, because the mundane responsibilities take them over. You have to be a yoga teacher; otherwise I don’t know how you can provide your living by restrain from everything, in instance, not spending hours in front of computer, which I always do.
