A French lunch.

The first 3 days indulged us with splendid weather, a lot of snow and sun. The skiing was magnificent. The weather hasty changed and turned into 3 days of snow storm and rain with hail. So tedious and boring! That’s why today we decided to have a “French” lunch.

The French people have a special relationship to their cuisine. Gastronomy is a big business in France and has a high status. The French men always have long lunches, late dinners and a lot of old fashion made food, though nobody is fat here.

Acquainted with that, we choose one gloomy showy day and went to the restaurant “L’ALTIPORT”. We have been there couple of times before and knew that they serve excellent food (not cheap though).

We took a walk, just to compensate today’s omitted work out and full of great expectations, speeded our pace. In the next instant the sky went pitch dark and furious rain together with barbed hard hail poured on.

I managed to take a picture on this remarkable whim of our nature.

Just look at this sky!

We were soaking wet when we reached our destination. The restaurant invited us with its cozy and appetite smelling environment. The hostess was unsaturated with customer- friendly manners and took care of three freezing and shivering guests.

I have noticed that almost all restaurants in France are private owned (the French don’t like fast food chains) and the owner is always present in the restaurant. Every restaurant has its own personal touch; it can be an interior, various adroit decoration or just family pictures on the walls.

In France you go to restaurants with a big expectation on new gourmet experience, to dwell on the idea behind the served food with the restaurant’s chef, to enjoy the environment and above all to feast.

In the US the expression “eating lunch” literally means nourishing your body…
After 3 hours of the delicious lunch (with a starter, main course and dissert), pleased and full, we went home.

I couldn’t resist from taking the pictures on our dessert.

Bon appetite!
